Why we get up and down off the mat regularly, and it's not just for the fun of it...

It has been proven to lengthen our life.

Yes, this one acts alone so if you are short on time and trying to work out what to focus on....do this one thing!

Studies have shown a correlation between the ability to get up off the ground without support and increased longevity. This is because it demonstrates strength, flexibility, and balance, all of which are important for maintaining health and independence as you age.

A study published in the European Journal of Cardiology found that people who could not get up off the floor without support were twice as likely to die within the next six years as those who could. This suggests that the ability to get up off the floor is a good indicator of overall health and fitness, and that maintaining these abilities may help you live longer.

Here are some tips for improving your ability to get up off the floor:

  • Practice regularly - we do so at least once a week on our membership

  • Engage with exercises that improve your strength, flexibility, and balance

  • Maintain a healthy weight by eating a Mediterranean diet

  • Avoid sitting for long periods of time

If you are concerned about your ability to get up off the floor, talk to your doctor or a physical therapist. They can assess your individual needs and recommend exercises and other strategies to help you improve your strength, flexibility, and balance.

Let's do this.
